Learning and Skills Senior Consultant, EKOS

Sheffield: £30,000-50,000 per annum, dependent on experience, 35 days holiday (incl. statutory). Performance Related Bonus. Contributory Pension Scheme. Training Account and Career Development Plan.

Main Activities

To provide high quality Learning and Skills consultancy services to clients throughout the UK.  This person will work with the Sector Lead for Learning and Skills in the delivery of a growing and diverse portfolio of work.  The post is in Sheffield within a multi-disciplinary economic development and regeneration team. 

Duties

  1. To complete and manage high quality work allocated in line with the task, method and timescale agreed by the client;
  2. To prepare written proposals for tenders and for non-competitive work for the organisation;
  3. To make presentations to potential clients;
  4. To be proactively involved in business development activities, contributing to the fee earning capacity of the company;
  5. To keep up to date on  policy and developments in England ;
  6. To maintain management information systems in line with company practice and policy;
  7. To carry out administrative tasks as allocated;
  8. To contribute to the coaching of junior staff; and
  9. To carry out any other appropriate tasks as directed by the Director in charge of the office.

Person Specification

The following would be essential skills and qualities:

1. At least five years experience in one or more of the following fields:

    • Learning and Skills consultancy and/orevaluation
    • Learning and Skills practice
    • Learning and Skills policy

2. A current working knowledge of the main Learning and Skills public sector organisations/ departments in England, including the LSC, DIUS, DCSF, QIA and QCA;

3. A working knowledge of the priority issues and policy developments in the Learning and Skills field;

4. A working knowledge of wider public policy, structures for decision making and funding mechanisms;

5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

6. Good organisational skills including proven project management ability;

7. The ability to manage and work in a small team;

8. The ability to work flexibly and on one’s own initiative; and

9. The ability to coach an supervise other team members.

Private sector/consultancy experience is highly desirable.

You will need a graduate/postgraduate qualification in a  relevant social science or an equivalent degree of knowledge and substantial experience  in social research, including research with children or young people.
