The UK Evaluation Society

President-Elect: Dr Kirstine Szifris

The Society is pleased to announce the President-Elect, Dr Kirstine Szifris, for a 3-year term, between December 1st 2023 until November 30th 2026.

As her term as President draws to a close, Bridget Dillon, is delighted to hand on the Society with a new vibrancy and reach, to an incoming President with such passion for evaluative practice, energy, and vision. She says:

‘It has been my privilege to work with Council over the past four years as Vice-President and President, to make significant progress in transforming the Society. There is now a hugely increased membership, a wide-ranging programme, a professionally staffed secretariat led by an Executive Director, application for charitable status is well in hand, and a consistent track record of successful major events. It is a pleasure to have been a key part of driving these changes and I wish Kirstine a very successful term in developing the Society further.’

Kirstine has ten years’ experience in research and evaluation, with a background in the field of criminology.   She currently works as the Research and Evaluation Lead at SHiFT, a Youth Justice charity and previously worked as a senior research associate at the Policy Evaluation and Research Unit, Manchester Metropolitan University.  She has both teaching and training experience and published journal articles. Prior to this, she completed her PhD at Cambridge University focusing on philosophy education in prison which has been published as a monograph, Philosophy behind bars: Growth and development in prison.

Kirstine lives in Sheffield and enjoys making use of the Peak District, now with her baby girl in tow.

Kirstine says:

I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to take up the role of President of the UK Evaluation Society. I think the next few years will see some exciting developments for the Society and I look forward to  playing a leading part in it!”
