We welcome students
The UK Evaluation Society has lots to offer students and young people starting a career in evaluation
As well as discounts on membership and conference rates, you’ll be able to connect with professional and experienced evaluators and academics, building what you know and who you know.
Our student membership is half the price of the regular rate to encourage new members at the beginning of their career and/or involvement with evaluation, and it represents an excellent way to complement formal learning with exposure to real world evaluation topics under discussion by professionals in the field.
Many students undertake evaluation projects during their university Masters and Doctoral/PhD research and are often unaware of the training, publications and resources that the UK Evaluation Society offers, such as our Guidelines for Good Practice in Evaluation and Evaluation Capabilities Framework.
There are a wide range of non-academic careers in evaluation after your research studies, and we can help you to connect with organisations and individuals who can help you explore these. Learn more about evaluation careers here.
Student membership of the UK Evaluation Society provides you with:
- A complimentary subscription to our UK Evaluation Society magazine, Evaluative Practice
- A warm network to connect with which includes evaluation academics and other evaluators – perhaps an opportunity to meet your future examiner or explore future career options
- Discounted access to our annual conference and regular events
- Publication opportunities in Evaluative Practice and Evaluation journal (affiliated)
“I first joined the UK Evaluation Society in 2008 whilst doing my PhD. I found the regional network supportive and it gave me the first opportunity to present my work to a small friendly audience. I found the annual conference invaluable and met my external examiner there.”
Dr Tracey Wond, University of Derby
Student Bursaries
The Society is pleased to offer a student bursary to enable students to join selected UKES training courses. The funds for the bursary were kindly gifted to us by the former London and South East Evaluation Network to enable UK Evaluation Society to encourage student participation in our activities
The bursary is open to full time students of any discipline at UK institutions and covers training fees only. Applicants are not required to be UKES members.
