Why become a member?

We are the UK’s largest cross-sector and cross-disciplinary evaluation Society and community of practice

Julian Barr, Past President of the UK Evaluation Society, highlights some of the benefits of membership

As a member of the UK Evaluation Society you will be part of an organisation that is in part professional association, part learned society and part community of practice.

Some people specialise in evaluation from early in their careers, but many come to it during their careers and become interested and involved. People working in evaluation come from different disciplinary backgrounds. As a member of the Society you will gain from interacting with a wide range of others in the field. And you will be able to share your experiences and expertise and help evaluation progress and evolve.

As a member, you will benefit, but we hope you will also contribute to the strength of the Society and of evaluation in the UK.

All members receive the following benefits:

  • Opportunities to network with fellow professionals at events hosted by the UK Evaluation Society and online
  • Training events (free or reduced rates for members), with sessions tailored to meet members’ self-reported needs
  • In-depth support with professional development through our capabilities framework and Voluntary Evaluator Peer Review initiative (exclusively for members)
  • Discounts for our popular annual conference (which means it is usually more cost-effective to become a member if you are planning to attend)
  • News updates and informative articles via UK Evaluation Society eBulletins, plus members’ magazine, The Evaluator,
  • Free advertising of recruitment and tender opportunities via the UK Evaluation Society website and social media
  • Discounted journal subscription to Evaluation: The International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice
